Liverpool came from behind to beat West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.

Lucas Paqueta fired the Hammers into an early lead but Cody Gakpo hit back with a fine goal from long range before Joel Matip headed home the winner midway through the second half.

The result saw Liverpool move up to sixth in the Premier League table, while West Ham remained 14th.

The London Stadium had been rocking after Paqueta fired the Hammers in front.

The Brazilian, who is West Ham’s most expensive signing of all time, collected the ball near the halfway line before playing a couple of one-twos with Michail Antonio and then smashing a shot past goalkeeper Alisson Becker from 22 yards.

Replays showed that Paqueta’s shot took a slight deflection off Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk on its way into the net.

Paqueta has now scored in three consecutive matches, having recently netted in big wins over Gent and Bournemouth.

His goal on Wednesday came inside the opening 12 minutes but West Ham did not lead for long.

Liverpool equalized six minutes later when Cody Gakpo found the net from even further out.

Gakpo collected a short pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold before spinning and firing home from 30 yards.

The Dutchman’s low effort bounced twice on its way into the back of the Hammers net.

Liverpool dominated the game and deserved their lead when it arrived in the 67th minute.

Matip’s first EPL goal of the season came via a bullet header following a fine outswinging corner kick by Andy Robertson.

Video: Moment of magic from Martin Odegaard leads to Arsenal opener

Arsenal have opened the scoring in their huge Champions League match with FC Porto as the Gunners level the tie at 1-1.

Mikel Arteta’s team needed to score first having been 1-0 down from the first leg and a second would have made life very difficult for the North London club to progress.

That came just before halftime when some beautiful footwork from Martin Odegaard led to the Norweigan playing in Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian star remained composed and finished clinically as Arsenal will now turn up the heat in search of a second.
