A NEW ERA: Kellen Moore sends message to fans and Gayle Benson ‘eager to get started’ as Saints head coach

A new era begins for the New Orleans Saints, with the hiring of Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their new head coach.

The Boise State legend will be taking over a team with major questions in a lot of areas and with little help in the financial department to get those cleared up. Even with this hurdle, Moore is excited for this new chapter in coaching career and is clearly up for the challenge.

Moore expressed his feelings on becoming the new head coach of the Saints and eagerness to get things started this offseason through a team statement:

“I am excited to join the New Orleans Saints and deeply appreciate the faith that Mrs. Benson and the entire Saints organization have placed in me. I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and am eager to get started. I would also like to thank the Philadelphia Eagles for an incredible 2024 season. I’m excited to begin this new chapter.”

Moore flew into New Orleans with his family on Saints owner Gayle Benson’s private jet Tuesday, and is scheduled to hold an introductory press conference this Thursday.

Fresh off of a dominating win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Moore has Saints fans plenty excited for what the future holds.

HE DESERVES IT: New Orleans saints owner in shock as the head coach Kellen Moore Announce Major decision on the QB Spencer Rattler as..

In a surprising turn of events, New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson is reportedly in shock following head coach Kellen Moore’s recent announcement regarding the team’s quarterback situation. Moore, who was officially appointed as the Saints’ head coach earlier this week, has been evaluating the roster, with a particular focus on the quarterback position.

During his introductory press conference, Moore expressed admiration for veteran quarterback Derek Carr but remained non-committal about Carr’s future with the team. He emphasized the importance of assessing all players to determine the best path forward for the franchise. This evaluation comes amid the Saints’ challenging salary cap situation, as they are currently $54.1 million over the cap.

Moore’s comments have led to speculation about the potential elevation of rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler to a more prominent role. Rattler, selected by the Saints in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, appeared in seven games last season, starting six. He completed 57% of his passes for 1,317 yards, with four touchdowns and five interceptions, also contributing 146 rushing yards.

Despite Rattler’s mixed performance, sources within the Saints organization have expressed strong support for the young quarterback. According to ESPN’s Matt Miller, the front office “loves” Rattler and sees significant potential in his development.

The Saints’ precarious salary cap situation further complicates the decision-making process. Derek Carr’s substantial contract poses financial challenges, and releasing him would result in significant dead money charges over the next two years. Carr has indicated a willingness to restructure his contract but is unwilling to take a pay cut.

Given these factors, Moore’s decision regarding the starting quarterback position is critical. Elevating Rattler could provide the team with financial flexibility and align with Moore’s vision for a dynamic offense. However, relying on a relatively inexperienced quarterback carries inherent risks.

Owner Gayle Benson, who has been a steadfast supporter of the team’s leadership, is reportedly taken aback by the potential shift at the quarterback position. Benson has previously expressed confidence in Moore’s ability to lead the team through its current challenges, stating, “We are committed to building a successful future under Kellen’s leadership.”

As the Saints navigate this pivotal offseason, the quarterback decision will be a focal point. Moore’s choice will not only impact the team’s performance on the field but also signal the strategic direction of the franchise under his leadership.

The coming weeks will be crucial as the Saints’ leadership deliberates on the best course of action, balancing financial constraints, player potential, and the overarching goal of returning to play

off contention.

“He continue to be a really important piece.” New Orleans Saints HC Kellen Moore praises Alvin Kamara and aim to build his team around him following..…….

After watching Kellen Moore’s Philadelphia Eagles offense help Saquon Barkley achieve the best season of his career, there should be excitement for what Moore can do with Alvin Kamara on the New Orleans Saints.

Moore had high praise for Kamara in his introductory press conference: “A lot of people for a long time have been looking for how can we find an Alvin on our football team.”

One thing that dropped for Barkley last year was his output as a receiver. Excluding the season he only played two games, Barkley saw his lowest number of targets, receptions and receiving yards. On the other hand, Barkley tied his career-high in yards per reception. When the ball was thrown his way he made bigger plays.

Quality over quantity in the passing game is easy to say when Barkley also ran for 2,000 yards. It’ll be interesting to see what approach Moore takes with Kamara, who hasn’t been as big a factor in designed receptions and work from the slot later in his career as when he first turned pro.

Moore added that Kamara has “been an important piece. It’ll continue to be a really important piece.” Historically, he’s been at his best as a dual-threat runner and weapon in the passing game. That’s the reason teams were looking to find his prototype for so many years.

Moore has stressed how important being versatile will be in his system, so he’ll play to Kamara’s strengths. These next few years will define Kamara’s legacy in the NFL. It’s good to see he has a talented coach drawing up plays for him.

Saint Owner Gayle Benson sends shocking message supporting new head coach Kellen Moore

The New Orleans Saints introduced Kellen Moore as their new head coach on Thursday, and it was team owner Gayle Benson who took the podium first. Benson thanked general manager Mickey Loomis and his team for leading a comprehensive search that identified Moore as the right fit for the job, and she pledged to give Moore her full support.

“Kellen, you have my full commitment to doing whatever it takes to deliver another Lombardi Trophy to our city,” Benson said.

Not every team enjoys that financial support. Joe Burrow has to petition Cincinnati Bengals ownership every offseason to invest in their roster and retain talent. We can agree or disagree that the constant restructures are a good strategy or not, but few owners are willing to cut lucrative signing bonus checks every summer like Benson. She also made heavy investments in remodeling the Caesars Superdome ahead of Super Bowl LIX.

As for what appealed about Moore to Benson? She said he met the criteria they were searching for.

“When we began this coaching search, we were all aligned,” Benson said, adding that they wanted a coach who was “exceptionally bright, creative and a tremendous leader.” She added that Moore has “been a winner in every stage of his career.”

Moore enjoyed tremendous success as a college quarterback at Boise State and has steadily risen in the ranks of offensive coordinators around the NFL. Now he gets the chance to lead a team for himself at the highest level of competition.

Saints HC Kellen Moore predicted to pull off blockbuster trade for $240 million QB he coached as OC

Saints HC Kellen Moore predicted to pull off blockbuster trade for $240 million QB he coached as OC

The New Orleans Saints officially introduced Kellen Moore as their next head coach in a press conference on Thursday.

The longtime offensive coordinator — who most recently was the architect behind the Eagles offense that won the Super Bowl — spent eight years with the Dallas Cowboys and a year with the Chargers before taking the gig in Philly.

While it’s unknown how Moore will translate as a head coach who’s inheriting a Saints roster with aging veterans and in the red when it comes to salary cap space, his creative mind and success leading NFL offenses has been well-documented.

The 2024 Eagles offense finished in the top 10 in all major categories. They averaged 27.2 points per game, which was 7th in the NFL. Philly put up an average of 367.2 yards per game, which ranked 8th in the league. Their rushing offense was dominant, finishing the season with 3,048 yards which was second in the NFL.

As TWSN points out, Moore had plenty of success with Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys offense during his time as OC there.

Moore and Prescott spent time together on the Dallas Cowboys as Moore was the offensive coordinator from 2019-2022. With Moore on the Cowboys he led the offense with Prescott to have a top six scoring offense in three of the four seasons. The one season that did not happen was when Prescott suffered a season-ending ankle injury in 2020. Under Moore Prescott experienced his best seasons with a 66.9% completion percentage, an average of 287.1 yards per game, and two touchdowns averaged per game

As of now, Derek Carr is under contract with the New Orleans Saints but they need to find a way to clear cap space and it’s possible they could try to move Carr or even release him, after he’s been inconsistent as the starter since joining the team.

In his introductory press conference as the new Saints HC, Moore was complimentary of Carr saying he’s’ a “starter in this league,” but also noting he will be evaluated like every other player on the roster.

TWSN believes Moore’s familiarity with Prescott in Dallas and the Saints current cap situation could lead to a trade, reuniting the former Cowboys OC with their franchise QB in New Orleans.

Trading for Prescott would take other contract gymnastics and modifications to his contract to push his cap hit down the line instead of strapping the Saints for this season, but he would be worth it.

With Moore being a first-time head coach, he needs a reliable quarterback under center, and that is Prescott. For Prescott, if there is any coach he can rely on to maximize his potential once again, it will be Moore. Creating the perfect trade opportunity for the Saints, while the Cowboys also get to start fresh with their new head coach as well.

This would obviously be a massive move for the Saints first-year head coach that would send shockwaves through the NFL, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

CONFIRMED: Saints Makes First Move Of Kellen Moore Era With Former-1st-Round Pick

The New Orleans Saints already are hard at work.

New Orleans had an opening at head coach longer than any other team. The Saints were able to fill the open spot after the Super Bowl and did so by signing former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Moore now is going to lead the team into the future and now the team already has made a move. The Saints reportedly are re-signing running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to a one-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“The Saints have re-signed former Chiefs first-round RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire to a one-year deal after a brief stint in NO to end the season,” Rapoport said.

Edwards-Helaire was drafted in the first round of the 2020 National Football League Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs and spent the first four years of his career with the team and won two Super Bowl titles. He was released by the Chiefs in 2024 and appeared in two games with the Saints.

Over that stretch, he tallied 46 rushing yards on 13 attempts to go along with three receptions for 24 yards. He’s just 25 years old and has plenty of upside.

Injuries have derailed him throughout his career so far but a running back room featuring him and Alvin Kamara is dynamic. This is a low-risk move with plenty of upside. We’ll see how it turns out in 2025, but it doesn’t seem like it’s negative in any way.
