Breaking: Jets Set to Say Goodbye to 5-Time Pro Bowler in Stunning $13 Million Roster Move

At the end of another disappointing season, there are sure to be plenty of roster casualties for the New York Jets.

A 5-12 team typically experiences lots of turnover, and the Jets are already guaranteed to have a new head coach and general manager, and possibly a new quarterback as well. In addition, they could be saying goodbye to their most decorated defensive player.

Linerbacker C.J. Mosley, one of the team’s captains and a former five-time Pro Bowler, played in just four games this season. The Jets still have Mosley under contract for one more year, but one insider believes New York will rip off the Band-Aid and part ways with Mosley at the earliest opportunity.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini predicted Friday that Mosley would be cut on Jun. 1 of this year, leaving the 10-year veteran’s NFL future in jeopardy.

“This one isn’t hard to figure out: He will be 33 next season, his cap charge is $12.8 million and his health is a question mark because of his neck,” Cimini wrote.

“His contract is a problem. There’s a $16.4 million dead charge if they cut him, which means they probably will designate him a June 1 cut to spread it over two years. Each team is allowed two June 1 designations.”

Mosley came to the Jets in 2019, and he made the fifth and final Pro Bowl of his career in 2022. He was sensational from 2014 to 2018 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. But all great careers meet their twilight.

Because the Jets are heading toward another rebuild, it doesn’t make sense to keep Mosley clogging up a 53-man roster spot. But perhaps the former superstar has one last late-career surge in him if he can secure a change of scenery.

In a groundbreaking move that combines elite athleticism with profound philanthropy, New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara has inked a historic $100 million endorsement deal with global tech giant Samsung. The landmark partnership is believed to be one of the most lucrative athlete-brand collaborations in NFL history and solidifies Kamara’s place not only as a dynamic playmaker on the field but as a leading figure off it.

Announced early Tuesday morning, the multi-year deal will see Kamara serve as a global ambassador for Samsung’s next generation of smart devices, wearables, and technology innovations. Kamara’s unique blend of charisma, creativity, and consistent on-field excellence made him a prime candidate for the tech company’s aggressive push into lifestyle branding.

“Alvin Kamara is more than just an athlete—he’s an innovator, a leader, and an inspiration to millions,” said Jihoon Kim, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “We are proud to welcome him into the Samsung family and look forward to shaping the future together.”

In an inspiring act of giving, Kamara has pledged a staggering $40 million of his new earnings to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, supporting youth development, educational programs, and safe recreational spaces nationwide. The donation marks one of the largest single contributions ever made by a professional athlete to the organization.

The unnamed orphanage, reportedly located in the Gulf South region, is expected to use the funds to expand facilities, improve access to healthcare and education, and support emotional development programs.

The Saints organization also expressed their support and admiration for Kamara’s move. “Alvin has always been a special talent on the field, but it’s his heart and dedication to community that make him truly remarkable,” said Saints head coach Dennis Allen. “He continues to be a role model for our team and the city of New Orleans.”

Aaron Rodgers final Decision: Why Saints Could Be A Better Fit Than Steelers For QB After Derek Carr Retirement

Aaron Rodgers decision: Why Saints could be a better fit than Steelers for QB after Derek Carr retirement

Not once during the 2025 NFL offseason has Aaron Rodgers signaled he’s on the verge of making a decision about his football future. Yes, the veteran quarterback acknowledged discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers. And yes, Steelers owner Art Rooney II all but forecast Rodgers’ signing at NFL owners meetings months ago. With spring practices fast approaching, however, Rodgers remains a free agent.

What if it’s not the Steelers that ultimately draws him to play, but another team entirely?

No, not the Minnesota Vikings, who are fully rolling with J.J. McCarthy after letting the Rodgers ship sail. How about the New Orleans Saints, whose suddenly iffy relationship with incumbent starter Derek Carr took a dramatic turn this week when Carr announced his retirement at age 34?

The Saints just spent a second-round draft pick on Louisville’s Tyler Shough, who at 25 might already be under some unspoken pressure to replace Carr atop the lineup. But let’s be clear: By broadcasting their plans to hold an open competition for Carr’s old job, the Saints aren’t exactly signaling they’re all in on any one young quarterback, be it Shough or incumbent reserve Spencer Rattler. Are we positively sure, in Year 1 of the Kellen Moore regime, they’re comfortable pushing all their chips on such a green prospect?

Rodgers, remember, is a one- or two-year rental at most. His signing wouldn’t necessarily prohibit a team from developing an heir apparent behind the scenes. In fact, you’d hope his eventual team is proactive about preparing for his inevitable retirement. Now consider you’re the Saints. Is there really that much downside to rostering Rodgers for one season, allowing Moore to have a veteran’s help in installing his system, while simultaneously allowing Shough to watch and learn and grow in anticipation of 2026?

No, New Orleans isn’t necessarily built to “win now.” But are the Steelers that much more equipped for a title run? Is DK Metcalf that much more of an upgrade than a healthy Chris Olave? Is Jaylen Warren more enticing than Alvin Kamara? Is Broderick Jones a much sturdier left tackle than Taliese Fuaga? The Saints aren’t “elite,” but neither is a Pittsburgh organization that’s failed to win a single playoff game over the last eight years.

New Orleans also boasts some nice personal connections for A-Rod. Quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien once spent three seasons as Rodgers’ backup with the Packers, developing a close relationship with the ex-Green Bay star. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks was reportedly on the Packers’ radar during the 2022 season, Rodgers’ final year in Green Bay. And longtime Saints utility man Taysom Hill began his NFL career learning from Rodgers as an undrafted signing of the Packers back in 2017.

But here’s the greatest rub, for both Rodgers and the Saints: Unlike the Steelers, the Saints do not play in the AFC North, which includes a pair of justified Super Bowl aspirants in the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals. They play in the NFC South, which over the last three seasons has crowned a champion with these final records: 8-9, 9-8, 10-7. Yes, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been scrappy, but this isn’t exactly the league’s treasure trove of powerhouses here. In fact, the NFC South’s combined record over the last half-decade or so easily puts it among the NFL’s worst quartets.

If you’re Rodgers, at 41 years old, admittedly on your last NFL legs, hesitant about signing up for the one-and-done Steelers show, that should scream “potentially better opportunity.” Maybe it’s not a slam dunk. But the idea of outlasting the Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers for the chance at a home playoff game sure sounds just as, if not more, enticing than wearing the black and gold just to go toe to toe with Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, etc.

That’s, of course, if the Saints ever show any legitimate interest. Or if Rodgers doesn’t hold out even longer, for rosier offerings. But among the slim options that exist, it’s hard not to see some appeal here.

Maxx Crosby sends Shocking Three-Word Message for Saints Derek Carr After Big Announcement

Maxx Crosby sends Shocking Three-Word Message for Saints Derek Carr After Big Announcement

It’s been looking like Derek Carr’s 2025 season was in jeopardy for weeks, but it turned out that his career was what was in jeopardy. The New Orleans Saints announced on Saturday that Carr has decided to retire from the NFL.

He could’ve undergone shoulder surgery, but that wasn’t a guarantee to get him 100% again. Instead, he’d rather walk away from football.

Though he retires as a Saint, Carr’s ties to the Las Vegas Raiders run deep. One of the players who played with Carr, who is still in Las Vegas, is star defensive end Maxx Crosby. He had a simple message for Carr following the big news.

“Congrats on retirement,” Crosby wrote on his Instagram story.

Crosby and Carr played four seasons together on the Raiders and went through a lot. They were together for the move from Oakland to Las Vegas, the Jon Gruden email scandal, the Antonio Brown tenure and so much more.

The two only got to play in one playoff game together.

“Upon reflection of prayer, and in discussion with Heather, I’ve decided to retire from the National Football League,” Carr said in a statement released by the Saints. “For more than 11 years, we have been incredibly blessed, and we are forever grateful and humbled by this experience. It’s difficult to find the right words to express our thanks to all the teammates, coaches, management, ownership, team officials and especially the fans who made this journey so special. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us.”

kellen Moore Saints Decides their next starting QB between Derek Carr and Tyler Shough

Head Coach Kellen Moore is closely watching as the New Orleans Saints face uncertainty over the starting quarterback position for the 2025 NFL season. Derek Carr is dealing with injuries that impact his availability, while the franchise drafted promising Tyler Shough.

Carr has a though right shoulder injury that may require surgery. His performance, along with Kamara’s, was crucial in showcasing what New Orleans could have achieved last season, which was particularly underwhelming.

General manager Mickey Loomis confirmed Carr’s injury a few days ago but refrained from providing additional details. The uncertainty surrounding the status of the team’s star creates a risky situation, especially knowing there aren’t many options at the position. However, the Saints remain confident.

Who will be the Saints quarterback in the 2025 NFL season?

“Derek Carr will be the team’s starting quarterback if he recovers. I have nothing more to say about that at this moment,” general manager Loomis reiterated, according to NBC Sports, in response to a question about which player will take the starting QB role.

Before the draft, the Saints’ stance was to wait for clarification on Carr’s situation. Given the uncertainty, the franchise chose to select Shough, although part of the organization admitted that the situation hadn’t changed after the end of the seventh round. At the same time, Spencer Rattler remains another potential contender closely monitoring the situation.

Competition to be the Saints’ starting quarterback

As of now, the race for the starting job is between three players. Carr’s chances depend on a quick recovery, whether through surgery or not, to secure the starting role. Second-year professional Rattler has the opportunity to prove he can compete for the spot. Shough also enters the competition after joining the team, being selected in the second round of the NFL Draft with the 40th overall pick.

Why Saints Selected Tyler Shough Ahead Of Shedeur Sanders As NFL Draft Slide Continues

Why Saints Selected Tyler Shough Ahead Of Shedeur Sanders As NFL Draft Slide Continues

Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has taken another gut punch as the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft rolls on. Widely considered below Sanders in prospect rankings, former Louisville Cardinals starter Tyler Shough became the third quarterback selected ahead of Sanders early in the draft.

With veteran quarterback Derek Carr’s status for next season up in the air due to a shoulder injury, the New Orleans Saints pulled the trigger on Shough early in the second round with the No. 39 overall pick. It’s now unclear whether Sanders, the son of Colorado coach Deion Sanders, will be selected at all in the second or third round on Friday. Rounds four through seven are set for Saturday.

After falling out of the first round on Thursday, Sanders expressed optimism about Friday.

“We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything is possible,” Shedeur said, per Well Off Media. “I feel like this didn’t happen for no reason. All this is, of course, is fuel to the fire. Under no circumstance, we all know this shouldn’t have happened, but we understand we’re on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s the day, and we’re going to be happy regardless. Legendary.”

Shough’s selection does break one streak, however. The Saints last used a first or second-round pick on a quarterback in 1971 when they plucked soon-to-be NFL great Archie Manning.

Jalen Milroe (Alabama), Will Howard (Ohio State) and Quinn Ewers (Texas) are other quarterbacks still on the board along with Sanders.

Fox Sports analyst and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III was one of the many big names to sound the alarm on Sanders’ slide.

“When I’m seeing him drop, I’m like, ‘Why are we punishing this young man because he’s got confidence?” Fox Sports analyst Robert Griffin III said in a video posted to X. “Why are we punishing him because he went to Jackson State, an HBCU, and turned it around? Why are we punishing him because he went to Colorado and turned it around? Is it because of his daddy? Y’all that mad that he got his number retired?”

Griffin also shared his thoughts on Shough being picked over Sanders.

“Tyler Shough is a good QB. His arm is one of the more likely arms in the NFL Draft Class,” Griffin wrote on X. “His tape was not better than Shedeur Sanders’ tape. Period.”

“Coach Prime” posted the following message to X on Friday morning ahed of the second round:

“My bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise & he chose the weak things of the world that he may put to shame the strong! Please know God ain’t done & God is just really getting started. Enjoy this lesson & stop stressing,”
