BREAKING: New Orleans Saints Icon Drew Brees Makes Triumphant Return with Major Announcement as co-owner

New Orleans, LA — In a move that has electrified Saints Nation and the NFL community at large, legendary quarterback Drew Brees is officially returning to the New Orleans Saints—this time not on the field, but in the front office.

At a joint press conference held Tuesday morning at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center, team owner Gayle Benson confirmed that Brees has joined the team’s ownership group and will take on a formal role as strategic advisor and ambassador for the franchise, beginning in the 2025 season.

“It is a full-circle moment for the Saints,” Benson said. “Drew Brees gave everything to this team, this city, and our fans. Having him return as a co-owner is not only symbolic—it’s a sign of our continued commitment to excellence and stability as a franchise.”

A Homecoming Like No Other

Drew Brees is more than just a Super Bowl champion—he is a cultural icon in New Orleans. During his 15 seasons with the Saints (2006–2020), he redefined the quarterback position, led the team to its only Super Bowl title in 2009, and played a major role in helping rebuild the spirit of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Brees retired from football in 2021 as the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards (at the time) and a 13-time Pro Bowler. His legacy is forever etched in gold and black.

Drew Brees: “This Is Where I Belong”

Speaking to a packed room of media, staff, and former teammates, Brees was visibly emotional as he described what the opportunity meant to him and his family.

“New Orleans is part of who I am,” Brees said. “This isn’t just about football—it’s about continuing a mission we started a long time ago: to lead, to serve, and to win. I’m honored to return in this new capacity and help shape the future of a franchise and city I love so much.”

According to the Saints organization, Brees will serve as a strategic advisor in multiple areas, including player mentorship, front-office decision-making, and community development. He’ll also take part in team branding and marketing efforts aimed at expanding the Saints’ global presence.

NFL World Reacts

The announcement quickly spread across social media and sports networks, with fans, current players, and NFL legends sharing their excitement.

“One of the greatest to ever do it, now helping lead the franchise he helped build. Huge move for the Saints,” tweeted NFL Network analyst and former teammate Deuce McAllister.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement shortly after the news broke, saying:

“Drew Brees is one of the most respected figures in the history of our league. His return to the Saints in an ownership role ensures his leadership will continue to benefit the NFL and the city of New Orleans.”

A Legacy That Keeps Giving

Brees has remained active since retirement, working briefly as an NFL analyst and expanding his philanthropic efforts through the Brees Dream Foundation. His focus on education, health, and youth development in Louisiana has earned him admiration far beyond the gridiron.

With his new role, those efforts are expected to deepen in collaboration with the Saints’ community outreach programs.

General Manager Mickey Loomis expressed his excitement, saying:

“Drew brings unmatched insight, integrity, and passion. He’s already been a leader in the locker room—now he’ll be a leader in our boardroom. His impact will be immediate and lasting.”

Looking to the Future

As the Saints enter a pivotal point in their rebuilding phase, the addition of Brees in an executive and ownership capacity is seen as both a stabilizing and inspiring move. His football IQ, leadership qualities, and connection to the fanbase offer invaluable resources as the franchise aims to return to championship contention.

“I’m not here to relive the past,” Brees concluded. “I’m here to build the future. And I believe that the best days of Saints football are still ahead.”

With that, the greatest Saint of all time reclaims his place in the organization—this time from the top, where he’ll help write the next chapter in New Orleans Saints history.

New Orleans Saints legend likes the idea of teaming up with Trey Hendrickson again

New Orleans Saints legend likes the idea of teaming up with Trey Hendrickson again

The New Orleans Saints have plenty of needs left to fill on the roster if they are looking to compete in the coming years, and one such spot is at defensive end. The unit has some promising talent, no doubt, but it does not have a game-wrecker to build around. They had one such player on the team previously with Trey Hendrickson, and he showed that he could be the focal point of a defense before the team chose to let him walk away in free agency.

After four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, it seems he may be on the way out unless something drastically changes. While the Saints are likely not the front-runner for his services, they could hypothetically afford Hendrickson, and his fit alongside the current unit would be outstanding. Franchise legend Cameron Jordan agrees, claiming Hendrickson is “tailor made to thrive” in the Saints’ defense when talking with fans on social media.

This is a bold claim, especially coming from someone who has seen as much as Jordan has in his career. But Hendrickson has found success with the Saints before, as in his fourth season with the team, he produced 13.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. The only player with more sacks over the last three years is Myles Garrett, with 44 to Hendrickson’s 43. Now with a new coaching staff in place, they could look to build around some new pieces and put together a really strong defensive identity. Is it a likely option? Maybe not. But it would be an extremely fun one.

“I really respected him but…….Saints Legend Drew Brees sends clear warning Message About Kellen Moore

The New Orleans Saints have a new head coach in Kellen Moore and he’s already gotten plenty of love.

Moore landed with the Saints shortly after the Super Bowl and he already has a fan in team legend Drew Brees. He opened up about the Saints’ newest head coach in a clip provided by the team on social media.

“I’ve heard nothing but great things about Kellen,” Brees said. “Look, I really respected Kellen Moore as a player when he was at Boise State. A guy whose the winningest college quarterback of all time. They were always going in as underdogs and beating teams that they had no business being on the field with back when he was playing. He was just kind of one of these methodical guys that you could see he has moxie and leadership skills. Obviously, he was a clutch performer. He’s just carried over all of those traits to being a coach.

“Quarterback coach, play-caller, and now head coach. He’s worked his way into this position. I remember talking to Mickey Loomis throughout the process and how excited he was about Kellen Moore. Look, he belongs here and I think he’s great for this organization right now with where we are. Great for this fanbase. He wants to bring a winner.”

Last year, the Saints finished in last place in the NFC South last year with a 5-12 record. Moore is in town now after being the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator in 2024. There’s already a lot of excitement that he can be a guy to help turn things around quickly.

ESPN: Derek Carr reached out to other teams before announcing retirement

It’s been an eventful offseason for Derek Carr, with the soon-to-be former New Orleans Saints quarterback exploring all options for dealing with his injured throwing shoulder — and his options for playing football on a different team.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Katherine Terrell report that, before he announced his retirement in May, Carr’s camp “spoke with at least two teams in the market for a quarterback about potential interest in the veteran, according to three league sources. While one of the sources classified the contact as indirect, both front offices were made aware that Carr might be looking for a new playing home.”

This happened without explicit permission from the Saints, ESPN’s reporting adds, but the team “didn’t consider it a major issue, in part because Carr, after 11 years in the league and playing through injuries, had earned the right to evaluate his future.” When these discussions happened is unclear, but the likeliest bet would be the NFL Scouting Combine in February. That’s when agents and team personnel congregate in Indianapolis for a week of pre-draft workouts, interviews, and closed-door meetings ahead of free agency. With the Saints having just recently hired Kellen Moore as head coach, this would be the best opportunity for Carr’s agent to get out in front of free agency to gauge interest in his top client.

There’s just one thing: Carr’s timeline doesn’t add up. If his shoulder injury is so severe (Saints doctors diagnosed him with a torn labrum and “significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff”) that his only options are to undergo surgery or hang up his cleats, what was he doing talking to other teams in February? The team statement said Carr first experienced pain in his throwing shoulder in late March, a full month later. So would he have considered playing through injury or going under the knife for another team, but not New Orleans? Or did the injury happen between those hypothetical conversations in February and his contact with the team in March?

We may never know. Either way, the Saints are going to process Carr’s retirement as soon as June 2, once it becomes more feasible as far as the salary cap is concerned, and at that point it won’t be their problem. Carr giving up $30 million out of the goodness of his heart remains a topic of speculation, but again: it isn’t the Saints’ problem. They’re getting that money back, and Carr is getting to move on. We’ll see if he tries a comeback after a year away from the game, but at this point New Orleans has bigger fish to fry.

Derek Carr’s absence shakes up New Orleans Saints as they face daunting challenge without their star quarterback

In the heart of New Orleans, a city known for its resilience and spirit, the Saints find themselves at a crossroads. The absence of Derek Carr, their star quarterback, casts a long shadow over the team as they navigate through the remainder of the season. Carr’s unexpected absence leaves a void that the Saints are scrambling to fill, facing a daunting challenge that tests their depth, strategy, and resolve.

The Impact of Carr’s Absence

Derek Carr’s influence on the field is undeniable. As a leader and a playmaker, his presence has been pivotal for the New Orleans Saints. His ability to read defenses, make decisive throws, and inspire his team has been a cornerstone of the Saints’ offensive strategy. Without him, the team must adapt quickly, finding new ways to ignite their offense and keep their playoff hopes alive.

The spotlight now turns to the players stepping in to fill Carr’s sizable shoes. It’s a moment that calls for not just skill and talent but leadership and poise under pressure. The team’s response to this adversity will be telling. Will a new hero emerge from the ranks, or will the collective effort of the team rise to the occasion? The next few games are critical, offering a chance for unexpected players to leave their mark on the team’s legacy.

Strategic Adjustments

With Carr sidelined, the Saints’ coaching staff faces a tactical conundrum. Adapting their game plan to the strengths and weaknesses of their available roster is paramount. This situation demands creativity, flexibility, and perhaps a bit of daring. The coaching strategies in the upcoming games will be a testament to the team’s ability to pivot and adapt to unforeseen challenges.

The Broader Implications

Carr’s absence is not just a hurdle for the Saints; it’s a test of their identity. How they navigate this period will speak volumes about the team’s character, resilience, and ambition. It’s a scenario that could redefine their season, for better or worse. As they face this challenge head-on, the Saints have an opportunity to demonstrate that their aspirations are not tied to the presence of any single player, no matter how influential.

A Reflection on Team Spirit and Perseverance

As the New Orleans Saints forge ahead without Derek Carr, their journey is a reminder of the unpredictable nature of sports. It’s a narrative about overcoming adversity, about a team’s spirit and the collective resolve to face challenges head-on. The Saints’ response to this situation will not only define their season but could also inspire a narrative of resilience and determination that transcends the game itself.

In the end, the true measure of a team is not just in the victories and defeats but in the ways they rise to meet the challenges that come their way. As the Saints navigate this uncertain period, their story is far from over. It’s a chapter yet to be written, filled with potential for growth, redemption, and perhaps, unexpected triumphs.
