BREAKING: QB Derek Carr Already on Hot Seat With Saints after been linked with a move to Las Vegas Raiders
Derek Carr has built a lot of credibility with the Las Vegas Raiders franchise during his nine years with the team. That led to the team sticking with him through some tough stretches.
However, he does not have that same credibility with the New Orleans Saints. He was supposed to help get the team back on track after they stumbled following the retirement of Drew Brees. Instead, Carr has gone a combined 14-13 in starts for the Saints the last two years, having missed the playoffs in both.
New Orleans is undergoing a head coaching change this offseason and the new head coach may not like what Carr brings to the table. Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report listed every quarterback who is on the hot seat in 2025 and listed Carr at the top.
“Going into his age-34 term, Carr may not be a fit for a team that could go through a significant roster rebuild under a new coaching staff,” Moton wrote in a Jan. 15 column. “If the incoming coaches don’t think he’s doing enough to uplift his supporting cast, the Saints may have a quick hook for him in 2025.”
The normally durable Carr most seven games this season, which is easily the most he’s ever missed in his career. The Saints’ season may have looked a lot different had he not been injured.
Moving On From Carr Will Prove Difficult
When the Raiders cut Carr after the 2022 season, he still had a lot of interest around the league. Two seasons later, it’s hard to imagine there is still as much interest in the quarterback.
His numbers have been decent with the Saints having thrown 40 touchdowns to 13 interceptions in 27 games but the same issues that plagued him with the Raiders plague him now. Plus, if the Saints cut him outright, they’d take on a $50 million dead cap hit. He also made it clear that he wouldn’t take a pay cut after the season.
“I wouldn’t take a pay cut,” Carr said, via ESPN. “Yeah, I wouldn’t do that. Especially with what I put on tape. Would I restructure? Absolutely. I’ll always help the team that way. But there’s some things that you put out there that you earned. Even in some cases, it could be even worse, but I felt confident when I signed it that this would give the team the best flexibility at the time.”
Considering his contract, it’s unlikely a team will trade for him so the Saints may be stuck.
Would Raiders Consider Carr Reunion?
If the Saints do cut Carr, there should be some interest in him around the league. Depending on how the draft goes, the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets would likely give him a call.
However, one team that might be interesting is the Raiders. They don’t have a quarterback and are going to have a hard time drafting one. Carr at $40+ million a year is too much but if the Saints are paying him big money to not play for them, he can come in at the veteran minimum.
The Raiders could certainly do a lot worse than Carr and the decision-makers who moved on from him are long gone. It’s still unlikely but not impossible to imagine him coming back to the franchise that he holds all the passing records for.

Top Earners: Whopping Sum New Bears Coach Ben Johnson is Reportedly Getting Paid $13 million Per………
The Chicago Bears have hired Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to right the ship of their ailing franchise, and early reports suggest they’re paying him a pretty penny to do so.
Per Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the “early figure” for Johnson’s contract is $13 million per season, $5 million more than the roughly $8 million first-year head coaches earn on average.
Though he has no head coaching experience or Super Bowl wins under his belt, Johnson was one of the most coveted picks this hiring cycle thanks to the Lions’ high-octane offense, which led the league in points scored this season. Both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders were said to be interested, as well, but it’s possible that Johnson was enticed by the idea of working with and developing Chicago’s rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, among other selling points that brought him to the midwest.
For comparison against the 2024 season, Johnson’s reported salary would fall behind the Kansas City Chiefs’ Andy Reid ($20 million), Denver Broncos’ Sean Payton ($18 million), Pittsburgh Steelers’ Mike Tomlin ($16 million), Los Angeles Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh ($16 million), Los Angeles Rams’ Sean McVay ($15 million), and San Francisco 49ers’ Kyle Shanahan ($14 million), but would come in one million ahead of the Baltimore Ravens’ John Harbaugh ($12 million), per Front Office Sports.
Especially if he’s getting paid like this, Johnson has a lot to prove once he takes the reigns in Chicago. The mandate is clear: the Bears will be looking for their first playoff appearance since 2020, and a better record than the dismal 5–12 with which they rounded out this current season.

Detroit Lions’ Head Coach Dan Campbell Crowned 2024 NFL Coach of the Year, Team Revels in Historic Victory and....
In a season that captivated fans and left a lasting mark on the NFL, Detroit Lions’ Head Coach Dan Campbell was named the 2024 NFL Coach of the Year, a recognition that comes on the heels of an unprecedented turnaround in the team’s fortunes. Under Campbell’s leadership, the Lions have not only returned to prominence but also rekindled the passion of a fanbase starved for success. The announcement of Campbell’s achievement comes after a remarkable season in which Detroit defied expectations, made a playoff push, and solidified its reputation as one of the most exciting teams in the league.
When Campbell took over as head coach in 2021, the Lions were mired in mediocrity, with a team that was struggling both on the field and in the standings. However, Campbell, known for his fiery passion and unconventional coaching style, immediately set about changing the culture. His emphasis on accountability, toughness, and grit, along with a commitment to building from the inside out, started to bear fruit in his second season. The 2024 campaign marked the pinnacle of this transformation, as the Lions finished with one of the league’s most impressive records, securing a playoff spot and leaving fans dreaming of a Super Bowl.
The Lions’ success in 2024 was built on a combination of factors, including Campbell’s deft leadership and strategic acumen. He managed to unlock the potential of quarterback Jared Goff, who had been seen as a question mark early in his Detroit tenure. Goff’s play elevated as Campbell’s system took root, and the Lions’ offense became one of the most potent in the NFL. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown emerged as one of the league’s top playmakers, while the offensive line, coached up by Campbell’s staff, became one of the league’s best. Detroit’s balance between the run and pass game kept defenses on their heels, making the offense unpredictable and dangerous.
On the defensive side of the ball, Campbell’s focus on toughness and physicality began to pay off as well. The Lions built a formidable front seven, with defensive linemen and linebackers wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks. The secondary, although not without its growing pains, steadily improved under Campbell’s watch. The team’s resilience and ability to adapt were key themes of the season, and the defensive unit became a source of pride for the Lions’ faithful.
Campbell’s impact, however, went beyond strategy and X’s and O’s. His ability to connect with players, inspire them, and create a sense of camaraderie in the locker room was evident in every game. His emotional speeches and unwavering belief in his team’s potential set the tone for the Lions’ success. His “bite kneecaps” mentality, which had once seemed like a mere catchphrase, became the ethos that drove the team. It became clear that Campbell wasn’t just building a competitive team; he was fostering a culture of belief and resilience.
For the Lions, the 2024 season represented the culmination of years of hard work, and Campbell’s recognition as Coach of the Year was a testament to his leadership. The future looks bright for the franchise, as the Lions now stand poised to compete for championships. With Campbell at the helm, the Detroit Lions are no longer an afterthought in the NFL—they are a force to be reckoned with.

The announcement comes during a critical juncture for the Lions, who have shown significant improvement under Campbell’s tenure but remain hungry for postseason success. Fans and players alike have responded positively to the clarity and transparency displayed by the team’s leadership.
Star quarterback Jared Goff shared his thoughts on the new philosophy, saying, “Coach Campbell’s approach really resonates with us as players. Knowing there’s a clear vision and purpose behind every decision motivates us to give everything we’ve got, every single day.”

QB Shocker in the Big Apple: 29-Touchdown Star to Replace Aaron Rodgers in Stunning Move
QB Shocker in the Big Apple: 29-Touchdown Star to Replace Aaron Rodgers in Stunning Move
The New York Jets are likely to move on from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason. While Rodgers put together a solid season in 2024, he was the olest starting quarterback in the NFL and he comes with quite a bit of baggage.
The free agency class doesn’t have a lot to work with at quarterback, so the Jets may need to get creative to replace Rodgers.
Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports recently predicted the Jets would use the NFL Draft to replace Rodgers. Vacchiano anticipates New York to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first round.
“The best move for the future of the franchise is to have a clean break and let Rodgers go back into the darkness,” Vacchiano wrote. “But where does that leave the Jets? Since they pick No. 7 overall, they likely wouldn’t end up with a rookie quarterback who would be ready to start the season. But they do need to grab one in this draft to start that process. That could have them reaching for the third quarterback on the board — like Ole Miss’ (Jaxson) Dart.”
Dart finds himself in the second tier of signal callers in the draft this season. He isn’t quite as talented as Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, but Dart is still a tremendous prospect.
During his senior year at Ole Miss, Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. The senior threw for at least 300 yards in eight different games including a 515 yard performance against Arkansas.
While it may be a reach to grab Dart at pick No. 7, the Jets could explore the idea of trading back a few picks to select him.

BREAKING: The Bears are finalizing hiring Lions’ OC Ben Johnson as their next head coach after Virginia Halas surprise decision
Johnson, 38, takes over in Chicago after five seasons in Detroit.
The Chicago Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their next head coach, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.
Johnson, who has been the Lions’ offensive coordinator the past three seasons, will fill the job vacated when Matt Eberflus was fired during the season.
Johnson, 38, was available to be hired after the Lions, who were the NFC’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs, were stunned on Saturday night by the Washington Commanders.
He has rebuffed interest from teams the past few years but now will take over in Chicago to coach quarterback Caleb Williams, who said earlier this month that he was intrigued by Johnson’s offense with the Lions.
Ahead of the Bears’ 34-17 loss to Detroit in December, Johnson offered similar praise over what he’d seen from Williams. In two games against the Lions, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft threw for 681 yards and five touchdowns without an interception.
Johnson, known for his innovative playcalling, has coached the Lions to top-10 offenses the past two seasons, including third overall this year and No. 1 in points scored when the Lions finished 15-2.
The Bears finished 5-12 this season, last in the NFC North standings.
