Cowboys Predicted to Land 6-Foot-5 23-TD Quarterback

Brian Schottenheimer faces some decisions at quarterback.

The Dallas Cowboys have their quarterback of the future in Dak Prescott. Yet, the Cowboys face serious questions at the position heading into 2025.

Both Trey Lance and Cooper Rush are set to hit NFL free agency in the coming weeks. This leaves Dallas without a quarterback on the roster behind Prescott. It is a less than ideal situation given Prescott is coming off a season-ending surgery.

The Cowboys would be wise to find some insurance behind Prescott just in case the star sustains a setback. In addition to potentially re-signing Lance or Rush, Dallas could turn to the 2025 NFL draft for potential solutions at the position.

USA Today’s K.D. Drummond’s latest mock draft has the Cowboys taking a flyer on a signal-caller on Day 3. The mock projects Dallas will select Louisville Cardinals quarterback Tyler Shough in the sixth round with the No. 211 overall selection.

Here’s what you need to know about Shough as a possible fit for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys Could Target Louisville QB Tyler Shough in the 2025 NFL Draft

Shough is far from a sure thing and would be fighting for a roster spot as the sixth round pick status indicates. Yet, there is some upside with the Louisville signal-caller, including having ideal size at 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds.

The Cardinals quarterback threw for 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns and 6 interceptions while completing 62.7% of his passes in 12 appearances during the 2024 season. ESPN’s Matt Miller noted that Shough’s performance at the Senior Bowl is giving the quarterback some “upward momentum” heading into the NFL draft.

“Shough was slinging it at the Senior Bowl,” Miller detailed in a February 17, 2025, message on X. “Can’t wait to see his follow-up performance. Definitely has some upward momentum right now.”

Louisville QB Tyler Shough Could Be a Day 2 NFL Draft Pick

Shough could be long gone when the Cowboys are on the clock in the later rounds. The Draft Network’s Ryan Fowler believes Shough could be a potential third-round pick. Shough has a chance to use the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine to continue to rise up draft boards.

“Should Tyler Shough compete in all drills in Indianapolis, he’ll throw on the field in the same group as projected first-rounders Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and Cam Ward (Miami),” Fowler wrote in a February 17, story titled, “6 Underrated NFL Combine Invitees To Watch.” “What does that mean? Well, for scouts that haven’t seen him throw live, comparing his arm to his classmates will hold weight in how the ball pops off his arm and his accuracy downfield.

“While pumping throws across the field in a t-shirt shouldn’t hold as much weight as it does, in this QB class, a good performance for the Louisville product will go a long way to him locking in his stock as a day-two pick.”

Even if the Cowboys re-sign Rush or Lance, it could still be wise for Dallas to draft a developmental quarterback, especially given Prescott’s recent injury history. We will see how much competition the Cowboys have in their efforts to re-sign either quarterback.

New head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s evaluation of both quarterbacks will likely play a key factor in how aggressive Dallas is in trying to bring back Rush or Lance.

Cowboys Predicted to Land Former 1,700-Yard Award Winning Star Playmaker

Cowboys Predicted to Land Former 1,700-Yard Award Winning Star Playmaker

The Dallas Cowboys need to make a move at running back.

The Dallas Cowboys face a decision at running back heading into 2025. Dallas already cut ties with veteran Ezekiel Elliott before the 2024 season ended.

Last season’s starter Rico Dowdle is heading into NFL free agency in the coming weeks. This presents a massive hole at the position for the Cowboys to address this offseason.

The most obvious solution is through the NFL draft. Many NFL mock drafts predict the Cowboys will take a big swing at Boise State Broncos star Ashton Jeanty with the No. 12 pick. Yet, Dallas could also address the position later in the draft.

One player coming off a down season is Oklahoma State Cowboys standout Ollie Gordon II. The running back was once mentioned among the top running back prospects in the 2025 draft class, but Gordon is now widely projected to be a Day 3 selection.

USA Today’s K.D. Drummond’s latest NFL mock draft has the Cowboys selecting Gordon in the sixth round with the No. 188 pick.

Here’s what you need to know about Gordon as a potential fit for the Cowboys.

NFL Draft 2025: Potential Cowboys Target Ollie Gordon Had a Massive Drop Off in Production in 2024

Gordon had a stellar 2023 campaign posting 285 carries for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns in 14 appearances in 2024. The playmaker also added 39 receptions for 330 yards and a TD through the air.

Gordon’s 2023 production resulted in numerous honors, including being named an All-American and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Things in 2024 did not go as planned for either Oklahoma State or Gordon.

The running back failed to top 1,000 yards and dropped from 6.1 yards per carry to 4.6 yards in 2024. Gordon posted 190 carries for 880 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. The Oklahoma State star added 29 catches for 179 yards and a TD.

Star RB Ollie Gordon Could Be a Buy Low Opportunity for the Cowboys

Early in the 2024 college football season, Brugler outlined why Gordon is not a lock as an NFL prospect. Yet, Gordon’s upside could be too enticing for the Cowboys to pass up if available later in the draft.

“Though he is a well-built athlete, Gordon is very much a finesse runner, especially as a finisher,” Brugler wrote on September 10, 2024, story titled, “Which 2025 NFL Draft prospects caught our expert’s eye in Week 2?” “He is a 215-pound back who often runs like he weighs 195 pounds — and I mean that as both a compliment and criticism.

“Gordon is always trying to avoid contact, which is part of what makes him so productive. But there are plenty of situations where you’d like to see your running back lower his pads and drive through defenders instead,” Brugler continued.

“Gordon is more likely to stay upright, though, which can cause him to lose life in his lower body and go backwards. This isn’t a toughness issue, it’s more of run-style concern.”

The Cowboys Are Unlikely to Make ‘Big Move’ at Running Back in NFL Free Agency

For a team like Dallas, the skepticism combined with the drop off in production could allow the franchise to buy low on Gordon. The Athletic’s Jon Machota believes the Cowboys are unlikely to make a “big move” at the position in NFL free agency. Machota makes the case for Dallas selecting Jeanty with the No. 12 pick.

“To catch the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys need to operate more aggressively in March,” Machota wrote in a February 20, NFL mock draft. “I have doubts about that happening. They’re unlikely to make a big move to get a standout back like Philadelphia did with Saquon Barkley. Drafting Jeanty is the next best option.”

Cowboys’ Star Micah Parsons on Adapting to Another New Defense
Dallas Cowboys

Micah Parsons is no stranger to change, and he’s facing another adjustment this offseason as the Cowboys bring in their third defensive coordinator in three years. With Dan Quinn out, Matt Eberflus is stepping in to run the defense in 2025. Parsons knows it won’t be a walk in the park but is ready to roll with it.

“It’s just about learning a new system and figuring out how the coach wants me to play,” Parsons said via the team’s website. “Obviously, having a third defensive coordinator in three years isn’t ideal, but that’s part of being a pro—you’ve got to adapt.”

Eberflus has a track record of building disciplined, turnover-heavy defenses. Back when he coached the Colts, his units were always near the top in takeaways. He’s also no stranger to Dallas—he was the Cowboys’ linebackers coach from 2011-2018, so he already knows the team’s culture. His defensive style is all about discipline, fundamentals, and high energy—an approach that could work well for a relentless player like Parsons.

Unlike Quinn’s aggressive, high-pressure defense, Eberflus prioritizes solid technique and effort. It’s a shift, but it might be exactly what Parsons needs to take his game to the next level.

Even with all these coaching changes, Parsons has remained dominant. He’s never had fewer than 12 sacks in a season—even last year, when he missed four games with a high ankle sprain. No matter the scheme, he keeps producing at an elite level.

The Cowboys are counting on Eberflus to fix a defense that struggled last season, and Parsons will be at the center of it all once again. But if his track record is any indication, he’ll keep thriving—no matter who’s calling the plays.

Former Dallas Cowboys WR and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin also left a blunt message for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones concerning..
In yet another twist in what has been a turbulent offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, former wide receiver and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has made headlines with a blunt and public message for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Known for his outspoken nature and deep ties to the franchise, Irvin didn’t hold back in his assessment of the team’s future.

“It’s time,” Irvin said during a surprise call-in on a popular Dallas sports radio show Friday morning. “We’ve got to stop waiting around and praying for something to change. Jerry, it’s time to go out there and sign a real quarterback—a leader who can take this team to the next level.”

The comment comes amid growing frustration among Cowboys fans following another disappointing playoff exit. While current quarterback Dak Prescott has had moments of brilliance, questions about his consistency in big games have led to increasing calls for change.

A Wake-Up Call from a Legend
Irvin’s words carry significant weight in Cowboys Nation. As a key figure in Dallas’ dynasty of the 1990s, Irvin knows what it takes to win at the highest level. He was part of three Super Bowl championships, and his fiery passion for the franchise has never waned.

“When I played, we didn’t settle for anything less than championships,” Irvin said. “We had Aikman, Emmitt, and an offensive line that could protect Fort Knox. We need that again. We need a quarterback who strikes fear in defenses—a guy who can bring the trophy back to Dallas.”

Irvin stopped short of naming a specific quarterback the Cowboys should pursue, but speculation quickly spread through the NFL community. Rumors have linked Dallas to several high-profile names in free agency and potential trades. Could this be a subtle push for Jerry Jones to make a splash and sign a superstar?

Jerry’s Response—What Comes Next?
The Cowboys’ front office has yet to respond publicly to Irvin’s comments, but insiders suggest Jones isn’t one to back down from a challenge. Known for his bold moves and larger-than-life personality, Jones could very well take Irvin’s suggestion as a call to action.

NFL analysts believe the timing of Irvin’s statement is no coincidence. With free agency looming and the NFL Draft approaching, the Cowboys have several opportunities to reshape their quarterback situation.

A Turning Point for the Cowboys?
Whether Irvin’s message leads to immediate change remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Dallas is at a crossroads. The fanbase is hungry for another championship, and the pressure on Jerry Jones and the Cowboys organization has never been higher.

“We’ve waited long enough,” Irvin concluded. “The time for action is now. We’ve got the talent, the resources, and the fans behind us. All we need is the right man under center.”

As the offseason drama unfolds, all eyes will be on Jerry Jones. Will he heed the advice of one of the team’s most beloved legends? Or will he double down on the current plan, trusting Dak Prescott to lead the Cowboys back to glory?

Stay tuned, Cowboys Nation—this story is far from over.

Cowboys Make Controversial Addition To Offense To Finally Unlock Dak Prescott

Cowboys Make Controversial Addition To Offense To Finally Unlock Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys have had an offseason of change.

Well, at least in the coaching department.

As new head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, prepares his staff for the upcoming season, the focus remains one thing above all others – justify Dak Prescott‘s record breaking, $60 million APY contract signed last September.

Breaking from a QB intensive motif, Schottenheimer chose former Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach, Klayton Adams, as the team’s next offensive coordinator.

Investing in the offensive line is never a bad decision, but it certainly raised some eyebrows considering other options on the table.

One of those options, Ken Dorsey – the recently fired ex-Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills OC – was expected by many to have another crack at the OC whip come this hiring cycle, but alas nothing came about.

Ken Dorsey Set To Join Schottenheimer’s Staff On The Cowboys

Despite looking past Dorsey for their coordinator position, the Cowboys have managed to finalize a deal to bring the former Brown to Dallas to join their offensive staff, but per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, a role is currently not disclosed.

“Dorsey’s role on Brian Schottenheimer’s staff is yet to be determined. The Cowboys initially hired Schottenheimer as a coaching analyst in 2022, so it’s possible Dorsey starts in a similar role with the Cowboys.

Or maybe he’s the hire for their quarterbacks job, which is not yet filled.

Dorsey. 43, interviewed for the offensive coordinator position that went to Klayton Adams.

The Browns fired Dorsey as their offensive coordinator after the season. Cleveland finished the season 28th in yards and 32nd in points. While Dorsey was not the team’s play-caller to begin the year, he took over the role midway through the season.”

What Does Dorsey’s Track Record Look Like?

Although, as Williams notes, Dorsey’s tenure in Cleveland was less than successful – with the Browns ranking as one of the worst offenses in the NFL – there is perhaps more than meets the eye.

Dorsey was working with one of the statistically worst QBs in the league for the majority of the season in Deshaun Watson; and then was subsequently thrown to the wolves with the combination of the entertaining, but error-prone Jameis Winston, followed by the barely backup-level Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Dorsey called the plays at the Browns, a job that head coach, Kevin Stefanski, has taken back – for now, but was still playing very much in Stefanski’s offensive scheme with below par offensive weaponry.

The now Cowboys assistant had a more fruitful time in Buffalo, where he lead quarterback, Josh Allen, to one of his-and the team’s- more impressive seasons (13-3) before a heavy regression in 2023, where the team started 4-4, after which Dorsey was fired mid-season.

Whilst he has had some “minor outbursts” that could be deemed character issues by some, prior to taking over as Bills OC, Dorsey was widely regarded as one of the best up-and-coming offensive minds in all of football, with many tapping him to be a head coach in the not-too-distant future.

That time is not so close as of now, but with a fresh offense, Dorsey has the chance to display his prowess as a “quarterback whisperer” in getting Dak back to his best. And if he can get him to play up to his ability in the postseason, we could be seeing Dorsey back in big-time conversations sooner rather than later.

In a Jaw-Dropping Moment, Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb Finally Reveals What Former Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy Told Him Before His Departure…

In a stunning turn of events, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb dropped a bombshell revelation that left fans and analysts buzzing. During a recent interview, Lamb opened up about a private conversation with former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy before his departure, shedding light on words that had been kept under wraps—until now.

Lamb, known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field, appeared emotional as he recalled the moment. “Coach McCarthy pulled me aside, and what he told me caught me completely off guard,” Lamb said. “It wasn’t just a typical goodbye; it was something much deeper.”

While Lamb stopped short of revealing every detail, he hinted that McCarthy’s message was both personal and powerful. “He told me to remember who I am, no matter what happens next. He believed in me—always did. But what really shook me was when he said that everything was about to change, and I needed to be ready for it.”

Sources close to the situation suggest that McCarthy’s departure may have been more complex than previously believed, with internal dynamics playing a significant role. His parting words to Lamb seem to carry a sense of urgency and foresight, perhaps reflecting deeper concerns about the future direction of the team.

Lamb’s revelation comes at a time when the Cowboys are under the spotlight as they prepare for a pivotal season with a new direction in leadership. Fans and insiders alike are now left to wonder what exactly McCarthy was alluding to—and how it might affect the team moving forward.
