Former Detroit Lions Leader Hands Aaron Rodgers Bad News
Former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has apparently given some not-so-great news to quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The NFL offseason is always filled teams doing everything they can to improve their roster, and one team that has a lot of work ahead of them is the New York Jets. Former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is the team’s new head coach, and he’s trying to help lead them to a better season than they had in 2024, which ended with a 5-12 record.
Now, a report states that Glenn and New York Jets general manager Darren Mougey are giving star quarterback Aaron Rodgers the boot.
Report Says Ex-Lions DC Aaron Glenn and the Jets Are Saying Farewell to Rodgers
On Sunday, February 9, Jay Glazer of Fox NFL Sunday took to X to report that Rogers and the Jets are apparently splitting.
In the post, he said that Rodgers “flew back to New Jersey last week to meet with the Jets about his future with the team, only to be told that the team was moving on from him.”
Glazer added that, “If that means that he will be a June 1 designation that allows him to sign with any team in the league on March 12 if he decides to continue to play.”
He noted that it doesn’t look like Rodgers is ready to leave the NFL, because “given that Aaron made the effort to fly back to discuss his future, all signs point to him continuing to play. It just won’t be for the Jets.”
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport is also reporting the news of the Jets and Rodgers parting ways, stating that the two are going “in different directions that will result in a split.”
In January, the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator spoke with the media about Rodgers’ future with the team, stating, “Here’s what I do know: Aaron Rodgers will be talked about, it will be talked about. We’ve already texted that communication with Aaron Rodgers. And as we continue to look at the roster, we’ll make decisions accordingly. And that’s with a number of people on the team.”
While the news is surprising, it doesn’t come out of thin air. In a February 9 feature for the NFL, analyst and expert Nick Shook added that, “Rodgers’ future has been uncertain for months” and that the player has “spent many media sessions openly contemplating the many directions in which he could proceed, including expressing a desire to remain with the Jets if they’d have him.”
Aaron Rodgers, By the Numbers
It’ll be interesting to see what teams might be interested in picking Rodgers up. A good selection of NFL teams could use a veteran quarterback, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy to find Rodgers a home.
“A handful of teams are in need of help under center,” Shook stated, but noted that he believes Rodgers is “nothing more than an experienced bridge quarterback at this stage.”
As for Rodgers’ contract, according to Over the Cap, a pre-June 1 move, in the form of a trade or release, would come with $49 million in dead cap for New York. The team would pick up $9.5 million in cap space if they designated a trade or release after June 1

Jets Predicted to Add 23-Year-Old QB After Aaron Rodgers Fallout

Jets Predicted to Add 23-Year-Old QB After Aaron Rodgers Fallout

Aaron Rodgers will not be under center for the New York Jets in 2025.
One path the team could take toward replacing him is through the 2025 NFL draft. NFL Draft analyst Dom C joined me on “Boy Green Daily” on Monday, February 10, and predicted that the Jets would select Ohio State QB Will Howard.
In our mock draft scenario, Howard was still available when the Jets were on the clock with the No. 92 overall pick in the third round.
“You got a real big guy in Will Howard: strong arm [and] built for the east coast,” Dom C told me on “Boy Green Daily.” “I’m going to take Will Howard here.”
Howard, 23, is listed at 6-foot-4 and tips the scales at 235 pounds.
A Fun Dart Throw for the Jets to Kick the Tires On

Draft analyst Connor Rogers told Jets reporter Ethan Greenberg that this 2025 class doesn’t feature a lot of quarterbacks who can start from day one. Especially considering the Jets hold the No. 7 overall pick in the first round.
Howard spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Kansas State. During that run, he only completed 58.8% of his passes, threw for 5,786 passing yards, and finished with a 48 touchdown to 25 interception ratio.
This past offseason he transferred to Ohio State to play out his final year of college football. It ended up with a National Championship victory. Howard also took his game to another level.
He put up new career highs in completion percentage (73%), passing yards (4,010), and passing touchdowns (35).
Jets Need to Do What They Gotta Do in 2025 With Eyes Set on the Future
Dom C made a great point on my show on Monday, February 10.
The Jets are unlikely to take a QB with the No. 7 overall pick. However, he thinks there is a strong likelihood that they take someone in the mid-rounds. If they do, the Jets can’t let that cloud their vision.
Dom C brought up the Christian Hackenberg example from a few years ago. In 2016, the Jets selected the former Penn State quarterback with the No. 51 overall pick in the second round. We never saw him during his rookie season but there was an unknown mystery quotient to him that made the Jets think that maybe he could be the guy.
That thought process allowed the Jets to punt on the QB class in 2017 because they thought they might already have their guy. Spoiler alert, they didn’t.
The Jets took safety Jamal Adams out of LSU with the No. 6 overall pick. There were two quarterbacks still on the board when they picked: Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson.
Hackenberg ended up not being the guy. Mahomes became the GOAT of this generation and Watson found great success before ultimately falling off the last few years.
The moral of the story is if the Jets take Howard or some other random rookie quarterback in the mid-rounds that shouldn’t prevent them from doing their homework on the 2026 QB class and being willing to pull the trigger for the right guy.
The 2025 Jets QB room is going to be Tyrod Taylor, Jordan Travis, a random veteran, and a random rookie. That tree is unlikely to bear a franchise QB fruit so the team will be back to its search a year from now.

GOOD IDEA: New Orleans Saints to Trade Tyrann Mathieu to an AFC contender in 2025 with the arrival of ….

GOOD IDEA: New Orleans Saints to Trade Tyrann Mathieu to an AFC contender in 2025 with the arrival of ….
The New Orleans Saints are entering a new era this offseason, set to officially hire a new coach soon. When a franchise enters a new era, they must determine who will enter the next chapter with them, and who will be left behind. That’s a question New Orleans will have to answer several times this offseason, becasue the team has multiple veterans near the end of the road.
One thing working against the Saints is them being an old, expensive team. As a result, they have quite a few players that could either retire this offseason, be traded to another team, or prepare for their final seasons in New Orleans. Among the players in that category is veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu.
Mathieu will turn 33 this offseason, and next year will be his 13th season in the league. Next season will also be the final year of his contract with the Saints. As a New Orleans native, he has talked about how much it means to him that his career is nearing its end while he’s playing at home. The question, though, is if his playing career will actually end in New Orleans.
Not everyone is convinced it well. In a recent Bleacher Report piece, NFL writer Gary Davenport projected six trades that could reshape the league this offseason. One of those trades were New Orleans sending Mathieu to the Baltimore Ravens for a fifth-round pick.
Trade idea has Saints sending Tyrann Mathieu to the Ravens
As Davenport details it, it’s no secret New Orleans could be hitting the reset button this offseason, and part of that process could be exchanging veteran players for draft capital. With Baltimore knocking on the door of a Super Bowl, they’d be a willing participant for a trade.
“It’s hardly a secret that the Saints could be holding a fire sale this offseason, especially where aging players are concerned. The Saints are years (plural) from being a contender. They need to get what they can for some players and get their salary off the books… It’s not at all unfair to say he’s lost a step. But 85 percent of Mathieu could be a big boost for the Ravens—and one that a cap-strapped Baltimore team can afford.”
This is certainly a move that would make sense for New Orleans, and would also give Mathieu a better chance to compete for a Super Bowl. However, it’s not hard to see why the Saints may not make a move like this. For better or worse, New Orleans has been relatively loyal to players.
If Mathieu makes it known to the team he’d rather stay in New Orleans for the final years of his career, the franchise will likely allow him to finish his final season with the team.

The New York Jets are parting ways with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Gang Green expressed that to Rodgers during an in-person meeting with head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, per NFL Insider Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
NFL Insider Dianna Russini explained some of the eyebrow-raising commentary that went on during those meetings.
“I was told that when they had conversations with Aaron Rodgers about what the future would look like [they said] if you are going to be a part of this team you are going to attend all of the training camp [and] you are not going to do Pat McAfee interviews anymore,” Russini explained on “Scoop City.”

During that conversation, the Jets expressed that they were moving on from Rodgers.
Russini explained that the ultimatums that the Jets gave to Rodgers in her opinion were about “Aaron Glenn getting control back.”
Co-host of “Scoop City” and longtime former backup quarterback Chase Daniel asked Russini if Rodgers had agreed to this ultimatum would he have been the quarterback for the Jets in 2025?
“I think that no matter what the Jets were going to say Aaron Rodgers wanted to move on. I mean this is something that I knew about weeks ago,” Russini said.
Despite that, Russini explained that Rodgers still flew up to meet with the team “because you want to listen” to what they have to say.
Glenn Wants to Create His Own Culture
Rodgers created a lot of headlines last offseason for skipping two days of mandatory minicamp to go on a pre-planned trip to Egypt.
Russini revealed that the Jets’ ultimatum was about attending all of training camp in 2025. Rodgers didn’t miss any training camp time with the Jets this past offseason.
Rodgers has been joining former NFL player Pat McAfee on “The Pat McAfee Show” every Tuesday during the season for the last couple of years.
Rodgers and McAfee have explored a variety of topics that extend far beyond football including but not limited to politics, trendy news topics, aliens, conspiracy theories, and controversial subject matter.
Often those viral moments from “The Pat McAfee Show” would then be asked to Rodgers’ teammates and coaches for reactions.
From Russini’s reporting, it appears Glenn wanted to nip that stuff in the bud moving forward.

NEVER AGAIN: Philidaphia Eagle HC Nick Sirianni sends warning message to new Saints HC Kellen Moore after exit from Eagles
Only hours have passed since the Philadelphia Eagles‘ unforgettable 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 2025, but the NFL champions have already lost a key member. Kellen Moore, former offensive coordinator of the team that starred Jalen Hurts, is the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints. Knowing this reality, Nick Sirianni sent a message to the former key member of his staff.
The Eagles offense was brilliant that season. With Hurts at the helm, Philadelphia became the highest-scoring team in the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl since 1970, with 92 points. Much of that success was due to Moore, who must now be replaced
Moore had joined the Eagles in 2024 and spent one season before accepting the head coaching position with the New Orleans Saints for the 2025 NFL season. Sirianni, who joined Philadelphia in 2021, was not happy with the idea of his former assistant taking members of his staff with him to his new team.
Sirianni’s warning to Moore
“I don’t let that happen, usually. But sometimes you can’t help it. Every situation is a little different. But my general thought on that is, this is my and the Philadelphia Eagles’ staff,” warned Sirianni to Moore, the new coach of the New Orleans Saints, according to NFL insider Zach Berman.
At the same time, Sirianni compared Moore’s situation to the case of Nick Rallis, who served as the Eagles’ linebackers coach and was hired as the Arizona Cardinals’ defensive coordinator in 2023. “It’s hard to build the staff and have that continuity in there, but there’s sometimes you can’t, like the Nick Rallis situation. He had the opportunity to go and be promoted, and that’s the way the rules are now,” he said
What will be Moore’s new coaching staff at the Saints?
There is no indication yet that Moore will bring members of Sirianni’s coaching staff with him to the Saints. However, the Eagles head coach has anticipated that scenario. For his part, the former Philadelphia offensive coordinator will begin his head coaching career at the age of 36 after stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers

BREAKING: Kellen More Shocking Statement to Gayle Benson and NFL Community as New Orleans Saints announce deal with him to become head coach

It’s official. The New Orleans Saints announced a deal with Kellen Moore to become their new head coach on Tuesday, confirming the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator will remain in the city where he just won a Super Bowl championship.
Moore, 36, was a star quarterback in college at Boise State before he rapidly climbed the ladder in the NFL coaching ranks. He’s called plays for several teams but reached rare heights with the Eagles this season. Now he’ll have an opportunity to build his own roster and show what he can do as the league’s youngest head coach. He’s the nineteenth head coach in team history and their twelfth full-time head coach.
The team released statements from several key members of the organization on this news, starting with words of support from owner Gayle Benson: “At the start of the interview process, it was important to find a head coach who was the right fit for the New Orleans Saints organization. Through the search process, it became clear that Kellen is the right person to help us re-establish a winning program and culture that our fans are accustomed to and have come to expect.”
Benson also thanked interim head coach Darren Rizzi for taking over at midseason and guiding the team through a difficult period; he’s expected to join the Denver Broncos and reunite with Sean Payton as special teams coordinator.
And here’s a message from general manager Mickey Loomis, who led the coaching search and took a moment to welcome Moore to New Orleans: “He is an outstanding communicator with the ability to lead people and has a clear vision for this football team. Through this head coaching search, we had the opportunity to meet with several impressive candidates and I thank them for their hard work and preparation in this process.”
It’s been reported that Moore will have “considerable say” in building his staff, which runs against past rumors that the head coach job was seen as a turnoff because Loomis may insist on keeping certain assistants. More will be empowered to hire his own coaches.
We also got an introductory statement from Moore himself: “I am excited to join the New Orleans Saints and deeply appreciate the faith that Mrs. Benson and the entire Saints organization have placed in me. I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and am eager to get started. I would also like to thank the Philadelphia Eagles for an incredible 2024 season. I’m excited to begin this new chapter.”
It’s a new era for the Saints. There’s no continuity to their old staff or trying to chase the memories that Sean Payton and Drew Brees made here. This is what they needed after too many years of being stuck in the mud.
