How many Matches Will Aidan O’Connell Miss? Injury updates for Raiders QB

In the third quarter of Sunday’s game in Tampa, Aidan O’Connell rolled out to the right trying to convert a third and long. He completed the pass short of the sticks and was hit in the back and injured his leg on the way to the ground. His leg was put in an air cast and he was carted off the field.

After the game, Antonio Pierce said of O’Connell’s injury “doesn’t look good”

According to NFL media’s Ian Rapoport, O’Connell suffered a bone bruise in his knee, which is positive considering initial fears.

Desmond Ridder came into the game for the Raiders. They have no other QB on the active roster though, if O’Connell were OUT, the team would elevate Carter Bradley from the practice squad to back up Ridder.

Gardner Minshew is out for the season with a broken collarbone.

“If the Raiders do move on from Pierce….”Raiders take Major Decision on the Future of Antonio Pierce and some Players following Abysmal season.

“If the Raiders do move on from Pierce….”Raiders take Major Decision on the Future of Antonio Pierce and some Players following Abysmal season.

The Las Vegas Raiders are having a disappointing season. Major changes can happen during the offseason. Do coaches and players want to come to the Silver and Black?

The Las Vegas Raiders are in the midst of a disappointing season. The Raiders have not found the success they would have liked under first-year head coach Antonio Pierce. Pierce took over as interim head coach last season and did a good job. Pierce landed the Raiders’ head coaching job this past offseason but has not had the season the organization envisioned.

It is not all on the head coach — there have been many factors as to why the Silver and Black has had an abysmal season.

With four games left, the Raiders are 2-11 and currently hold the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Raiders are a talented team on both sides of the ball that needs to find a franchise quarterback. They have dealt with injuries all season long and the offense much like last season has struggled.

The Raiders have already made coaching changes during the bye week this season. After the season the Raiders will have a decision to make on Antonio Pierce. If the Raiders do move on from Pierce, is the Raiders job a good landing spot?

“In a division with Andy Reid, Jim Harbaugh, Sean Payton … Antonio Pierce, I know him, and I like him, he feels overwhelmed,” said radio host Colin Cowherd on “The Herd”. “That is the best coaching division. You are making an argument now that you have three first-ballot Hall of Fame coaches. Antonio Pierce has never been a head coach. I do not think it was a winning proposition. Does it sound to you like going into a season, Antonio Pierce and Gardner Minshew, against Harbaugh and Herbert, Mahomes and Reid … I think it is a very interesting job. They have a left tackle, a superstar tight end, and an all-world pass rusher. They to me are an offensive coach and quarterback away from being interesting. But even if they get it right, the division is a Hall of Fame Mount Rushmore.”

“Mark Davis earlier this week in Dallas said that he likes how hard the guys are still playing, so that is a good thing,” said NFL Insider Jordan Schultz. “And I think we both like Antonio Pierce. The bigger question is, is Mark Davis going to want to pay three different head coaches who are no longer in the building? … If he fires AP, he is paying Pierce, McDaniels, and [Jon] Gruden. None of them are in the building. Then you have the Tom Brady element … It is a really good job.”

BREAKING: Raiders Star DE Maxx Crosby to Undergo Ankle Surgery following……

The surgery is expected to end his season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby is expected to undergo arthroscopic ankle surgery that is expected to end his season, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Crosby initially injured his ankle in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens but has been playing through the ailment throughout much of the season. Prior to this season, Crosby had not missed a single game in his five prior years as a pro. In 12 games this year, he has recorded 45 combined tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.

Crosby is scheduled to have the ankle procedure on Monday, and may need a second surgery depending on the results of the first. Doctors are under the impression that Crosby’s injury could be worse than originally thought.

The Raiders are 2-11 this season, and have already been eliminated from postseason contention.

Raiders will be the Likeliest Destinations for Free Agent crop QB to replace Aidan O’Connell

The Las Vegas Raiders organization doesn’t appear to have any abiding affection for either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell, as both quarterbacks had their chances as the starter this season and both fell relatively flat.

Las Vegas is 2-11, tied with the New York Giants for the worst record in the NFL, and the draft is roughly four and a half months away. Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is the expected prize for whatever team ends up picking No. 1 overall, but if that doesn’t end up being the Raiders, then the franchise can pivot in the direction of free agency.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report on Wednesday, Dec. 11, dubbed Las Vegas among the top/most likely destinations for Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, who will probably enter March as the cream of the free-agent crop at the game’s most important position.

“Unlike Pittsburgh, the Las Vegas Raiders don’t have a clear-cut starter worth retaining,” Knox wrote. “The Raiders have $112.1 million in projected 2025 cap space and could make a serious push for Darnold if they so choose. They could also provide him with a pair of quality pass-catchers in Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers.”

Darnold has thrown for nearly 3,300 yards, 28 TDs and 10 INTs in what has been, by far, the best campaign of his seven-year career through 14 games played. The quarterback was in the early MVP conversation through the first month of the season, and though he took a couple of steps backward in the following weeks, his 5-touchdown performance over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday has elevated him back into the discussion.

Darnold had the sixth-best odds to win the MVP Award as of Tuesday, according to Draftkings Sportsbook, residing behind four other quarterbacks and running back Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles.
