“It isn’t working No team can deal with…Erik ten Hag gives reason for Man utd 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest

Manchester United’s season is continuing to spiral out of control as Erik ten Hag’s men were on the losing side of a game for the 14th time this season.

With 20 games of the Premier League season played, United have already lost more games than in the entirety of Ten Hag’s first campaign in charge.

Injuries have been a major factor in United’s personnel options but the lack of spark will be what worries the manager more than anything else.

An organised side can quite comfortably dismantle United and manipulate games to go in the direction of their choosing. Being the side that is easily manipulated is not a good trait to have as a team.

“First half performance was OK. We invested to do less in the final third. I think we should have created more,” Ten Hag is quoted as saying by the BBC after the game.

“The second half we had moments when we conceded goals. Then we come back in the game and I think the game was ours and we went for 2-1 and then we conceded. We had our moments but it was not good enough to win here.

“We know (that we need to be more consistent). We have to make our performances consistent and have to do better. A game is 90 minutes and we have to invest from the first minute on.

“We are hopeful that many players will be back in the new year and they will strengthen the team and the squad.

“We know the reasons why it is not working. No team can deal with so many issues and injuries we have gad. We should still have done better and we have depth in the squad. When you have so many injuries, the depth is not enough.”

Onana the Hero: Fans can’t believe what Southampton did seconds before penalty vs Man Utd

Fans were left confused after seeing what Southampton players did before their missed penalty against Manchester United.

The Saints were given an opportunity to take the lead at St Mary’s on 32 minutes after debutant Tyler Dibling was brought down in the area by Diogo Dalot.

Cameron Archer stepped up to take the spot kick, but Andre Onana got down well to his right to keep it out.

United then cleared, and scored themselves just two minutes later through defender Matthijs de Ligt.

It was therefore a nightmare passage of play for Russell Martin’s side as they look to register their first point in the Premier League season.

Marcus Rashford then made it 2-0 before half-time with a curling 25-yard finish with his right foot.

But prior to the missed penalty, fans were surprised at what Southampton chose to do.

Ben Brereton Diaz looked as if he was about to take the penalty, but stepped back and allowed Archer to take it instead.

There was then a significant wait before the penalty was taken, with Archer missing from 12 yards.

“They want me out of the club but i am determined to stay at Man United and fight for his place with £375k-a-week midfielder to REJECT any offers to move to Turkey

“They want me out of the club but i am determined to stay at Man United and fight for his place with £375k-a-week midfielder to REJECT any offers to move to Turkey

Casemiro is determined to fight for his place at Manchester United and will reject any offers to sign for Galatasaray before the transfer window closes in Turkey next week.

The Istanbul club are weighing up a move for the Brazil midfielder who was substituted at half-time in United’s defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday after his mistakes led to two goals by Luis Diaz

It was the latest setback for Casemiro whose form has dipped since an outstanding first season at United following his £70million move from Real Madrid in 2022.

The 32-year-old has been left out of Brazil’s squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

His place at United is under threat from Manuel Ugarte after the Uruguayan arrived in a £50.5millon deal from Paris Saint-Germain last week, but it’s understood that Casemiro has no interest in leaving Old Trafford at the moment.

He is the club’s top earner on £375,000-a-week and it’s unlikely Galatasaray, who have until a week on Friday to make a move before the Turkish deadline, could afford his wages.

United are expecting Casemiro back in training after the international break to prepare for their next game against Southampton.

The club have been open to offers for the five-time Champions League winner, and former football director John Murtough travelled to Saudi Arabia in December to gauge the level of interest.

However, there were no bids before the Saudi Pro League window closed on Monday night.

VAR told they made ‘baffling’ error during Liverpool’s win over Man United as former striker hits out at decision at Old Trafford

The VAR for Liverpool’s 3-0 dismantling of Man United on Sunday has been told that they made a ‘baffling’ mistake.

New Liverpool manager Arne Slot made it three wins from three as his side cruised to a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Luis  Diaz netted twice before Mo Salah sealed the three points with a crisp finish as Erik ten Hag found himself back under huge pressure once again.

And it could have been more if an incident during the second half had been reviewed.

United new boy Noussair Mazraoui appeared to catch Cody Gakpo from behind in the area but referee Anthony Taylor played the advantage which resulted in Darwin Nunez shooting wide.

Replays showed the challenge was made in the area and former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor believes VAR should have stepped in to award the penalty.

VAR John Brooks and assistant Harry Lennard did not review it and Mellor was left baffled

He tweeted two images to justify his thoughts, writing: ‘referee sees foul on Gakpo and indicates advantage… Nunez shoots wide,’ Mellor wrote.

‘Contact was inside the area… so why hasn’t VAR told him he was right and contact in area so should be a pen? Baffling decision.’

The decision had little impact on the result with United well beaten by their rivals on the day.
