NFL trade deadline tracker: list of completed deals

Among the four major sports, the NFL trade deadline tends to be one of the slowest. It’s rare for big name players to change teams mid-season, but that doesn’t stop analysts from trying to hype up deals.

We don’t know what changed, but for some reason 2024 has been marked as a big year for trades. Even if they aren’t in their prime anymore, we have seen some household names changing teams.

This year’s NFL trade deadline is set for 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 5. Let’s take a look at the moves that happened before the deadline, and then track all of the latest rumors and moves for what is already one of the better NFL trade deadlines in recent memory.

Cardinals acquire EDGE Baron Browning from Broncos

Nov. 4 — The Cardinals’ pass-rush impressed in Sunday’s win over the Bears, but the unit is getting a reinforcement after an otherwise inconsistent start to the year. Arizona traded for Broncos edge rusher Baron Browning, sending a 2025 sixth-round pick back to Denver.

Browning, who started his career as an off-ball linebacker, had 4.5 sacks in 10 games last season but has yet to record a sack in a scaled-down role this year. The Cardinals sit atop the NFC West through nine weeks and are hoping Browning can at least be a rotational pass-rusher for the stretch run.

Saints fire Dennis Allen, but full firesale not expected

Nov. 4 — The New Orleans Saints started the season 2-0, showing off a high-octane offense. Less than two months later, the Saints have lost seven games in a row and are now 2-7. The final straw was the most recent loss to the Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans decided to part ways with its head coach. Despite Dennis Allen getting fired, early reports are that the Saints are not expected to complete a full firesale ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.

After moving to 3-5, Jerry Jones says he wants to make moves at deadline

Nov.  3 — Jones commented after the loss that he hasn’t given up on the team and that they will probably make some moves ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. After another loss, though, it remains to be seen if the moves will be as buyers or sellers.

Steelers remain in pursuit of WR help

Nov. 3 — Pittsburgh is 6-2 at the bye and sits atop the AFC North standings. As they begin their playoff push, the Steelers are looking for more talent to add at WR, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

After an injury to Jaguars WR Christian Kirk keeps him out of the running, Pittsburgh could be keying in on New York’s Mike Williams and Carolina’s Adam Thielen.

Azeez Ojulari, Za’Darius Smith are in demand as teams search for edge rushers

Nov. 3 — Azeez Ojulari has “been the subject of several calls” from teams in search of another edge rusher, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Depending on the Browns’ result in Week 9, DE Za’Darius Smith could become available.

Detroit’s pursuit of pass-rushing help in the wake of the injury to Aidan Hutchinson has led to inquiries about Smith, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Jets receiving calls about WR Mike Williams

Nov. 3 — The writing may have been on the wall since Week 6 but Williams is “garnering interest” ahead of the trade deadline, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Jets’ WR room has quickly gotten crowded and Williams could be the odd man out.

Chiefs looking into acquiring CB Marshon Lattimore

Nov. 2 — The Chiefs are looking to strengthen their title defense with roster improvements. They’ve recently inquired about Saints CB Marshon Lattimore, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Lattimore is inactive for Week 9 and the extent of Kansas City’s interest will depend largely on the four-time Pro Bowlers’ health.

Infamous Packer key man Released by NFC Rival just now

Following a disappointing preseason, the Green Bay Packers made a surprising move by releasing second-year kicker Anders Carlson. Carlson had been competing intensely with veteran Greg Joseph during training camp.

In the end, though, neither kicker secured the spot, as the Packers opted for a different option, choosing Brayden Narveson instead.

Carlson, now 26, soon found a new chance, signing with the San Francisco 49ers last month. The 49ers, facing a shortage of healthy kickers after Jake Moody and Matthew Wright sustained injuries, were in urgent need of reinforcements.

Carlson was elevated twice from the 49ers’ practice squad, playing in Weeks 7 and 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys. In these appearances, he performed impressively, hitting 5-for-5 on field goals and 3-for-4 on extra points—a significant improvement from his preseason struggles with the Packers.

However, with Moody nearing a return from injury, Carlson will need to seek another opportunity.

Packers News: Anders Carlson Kicked to Curb by 49ers

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that the 49ers have released former Green Bay kicker Anders Carlson from their practice squad, filling his spot with veteran safety Tashaun Gibson.

Despite the release, Carlson should have a good chance of finding another team soon, as he performed well in his two games with the 49ers. While Carlson struggled with longer kicks as a rookie in Green Bay, making just 7 of 13 attempts from beyond 40 yards, he showed improvement in San Francisco, hitting 4-for-4 from that range. Although it didn’t work out with the Packers, Carlson’s potential remains promising.
