Two Manchester United defenders scored own goals and another two were injured during Thursday’s Europa League first leg against Sevilla.

United appeared to be cruising after Marcel Sabitzer scored twice in the opening 21 minutes to put the home side 2-0 ahead.

But disaster was waiting patiently around the corner.

Raphael Varane was subbed off at half-time after appearing to pick up a knock. The Frenchman was replaced by Harry Maguire, who would go on to play a crucial role in the outcome of the match.

Sevilla got back into the contest in the 84th minute when a Jesus Navas cross deflected into the net off United left-back Tyrell Malacia.

Things got worse for United moments later when Lisandro Martinez went down without being challenged.

The Argentina center-back was carried off the field by two Sevilla players, before later boarding a stretcher.

United had already made all five of their substitutes by this point so they had to play out the final nine minutes of the game, including six minutes of added time, with 10 men.

Those ten men conceded an equalizer three minutes into added time when Youssef En-Nesyri’s off-target effort found the net after striking the head of Maguire.

Video: Moment of magic from Martin Odegaard leads to Arsenal opener

Arsenal have opened the scoring in their huge Champions League match with FC Porto as the Gunners level the tie at 1-1.

Mikel Arteta’s team needed to score first having been 1-0 down from the first leg and a second would have made life very difficult for the North London club to progress.

That came just before halftime when some beautiful footwork from Martin Odegaard led to the Norweigan playing in Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian star remained composed and finished clinically as Arsenal will now turn up the heat in search of a second.
