Youssef En-Nesyri scored twice as Europa League experts Sevilla capitalised on a horrible defensive display from Manchester United to dump the Premier League side out of the competition with a convincing quarterfinal second leg win.
Entering the match level at 2-2 on aggregate after scoring two late goals in the first leg at Old Trafford, the hosts went ahead for the first time in the tie when En-Nesyri fired past goalkeeper David de Gea, who had begun a blundering performance by playing a poor pass to Harry Maguire to allow Sevilla to pounce.
United coach Erik ten Hag sent top scorer Marcus Rashford — returning from injury — and Luke Shaw on at the break, but the action had barely restarted when Loic Bade headed over De Gea from Ivan Rakitic’s corner.
De Gea then gifted Sevilla a late third when he needlessly raced out of his penalty area towards a long ball, playing possession straight to the feet of the grateful En-Nesyri, who sent a precise finish from distance into the back of the empty net.
The comprehensive victory sent Sevilla through 5-2 on aggregate and highlighted the abundant frailties United showed during the early part of the season and in their 7-0 domestic mauling at Liverpool.
United now cannot complete the hat-trick of trophies they had been hoping for following their Carabao Cup triumph over Newcastle in February.
Third-placed in the English top flight after being left behind by top two Arsenal and Manchester City, they play Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup semifinals at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Video: Moment of magic from Martin Odegaard leads to Arsenal opener
Arsenal have opened the scoring in their huge Champions League match with FC Porto as the Gunners level the tie at 1-1.
Mikel Arteta’s team needed to score first having been 1-0 down from the first leg and a second would have made life very difficult for the North London club to progress.
That came just before halftime when some beautiful footwork from Martin Odegaard led to the Norweigan playing in Leandro Trossard.
The Belgian star remained composed and finished clinically as Arsenal will now turn up the heat in search of a second.

Manchester City have a taken the lead at Anfield from a brilliantly rehearsed corner.
Kevin de Bruyne whips in a low cross from the corner towards the front post, where Nathan Ake cleverly blocked Alexis Mac Allister to allow Stones to sneak into the six-yard box and slot it past Kelleher.
This early strike from the champions deals a significant blow to Liverpool, who will now have to come back from behind to grab anything from this match.
