“I love Liverpool …..’-Liverpool told that ‘amazing’ midfielder still wants to join them this summer
Liverpool have been told that they are still Jude Bellingham’s ‘preferred club’ to join this summer.
The Reds had reportedly been leading the race to sign Bellingham as he prepares to leave Borussia Dortmund. But owing to the size of the rebuild needed throughout their squad, they’ve had to bow out of the race.
Despite that, former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer thinks that the 19-year-old would still love to get his Anfield move.
“The thing with Jude Bellingham, I personally think he wants to go to Liverpool, I think that’s his preferred club,” the 50-year-old told beIN SPORTS. “But the size of the surgery that’s needed at Liverpool, you can’t warrant spending that much money. Liverpool work on a sustainable model that’s worked for them for the last five years.”
McAteer also claimed that Liverpool’s apparent failure to secure Bellingham was simply a matter of poor timing.
I don’t think he [Bellingham] was never going to Liverpool, I think it was all about timing,” he argued. “If you look at the Cody Gakpo deal, they took him for a relatively cheap price. If they’d have hung on his price would have gone up and they’d have to pay more. Then you’re fighting in a room with clubs that can throw money at it. It’s all about timing.”
Throughout the last year or so, there has been a general feeling that Bellingham did indeed want to join Liverpool.
That the Reds were still in a race with richer clubs than them pointed to the fact that they had the same impression. However, whether that’s the case or not, Liverpool still had an enormous transfer fee to stump up. Without a willingness to pay that, it’s immaterial how much Bellingham wants to wear the famous red.
Conversely though, it’s also been claimed in some quarters that Liverpool pulled out having had no assurances that they were the England man’s preferred choice.
Unwilling to get into a bidding war deep into a summer where they simply have to strengthen, the Reds opted to move on. Wise, foolish, only time will tell.
In the meantime, it will be fascinating to see where Bellingham does end up playing his football next season. There still appears to be a half-decent chance that he could remain in the black and yellow of Borussia Dortmund. Should that come to pass, we’ll probably all be doing this same tired dance for the next 12 months at least.
But should that happen, Liverpool will have every right to feel emboldened. Spending the money on Bellingham should be slightly easier to justify in a year’s time. Also, if he hangs on for another year with the Reds publicly out of the race, it would suggest that he has indeed already made up his mind.

Manchester United considering €70m swoop for PSG striker in January to boost forward – Reports
According to reports from CaughtOffside, Manchester United are understood to have a genuine interest in the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani, though he is not expected to be available this January.
CaughtOffside is aware of Kolo Muani was previously signed by PSG for a hefty sum of money—up to €95 million—while Man United is believed to value the France international at closer to €70 million as they search for upfront reinforcements.
Kolo Muani might be a good fit for the Red Devils, even though he hasn’t quite displayed his finest play in a PSG jersey.
After Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee’s setbacks at Old Trafford, the team could definitely use a more seasoned and tested alternative up front.
The 25-year-old remains highly regarded by his current club, however, and sources have indicated there is little chance of him being sold this winter, even if the situation could perhaps be looked at again by next summer.
United have invested in the future by bringing in two young forwards in Hojlund and Zirkzee in the last two summers, so it might perhaps be a bit of a surprise to see the club spending big on yet another striker.
Still, one has to wonder how much more time Hojlund in particular will be given as he’s not made much of an impact in over a year in Manchester now, so there could be a case for bringing in Kolo Muani as an upgrade.
At the same time, if PSG aren’t keen to sell, then this could potentially mean paying a lot of money to make them change their minds, and that might be seen as a bit of a risk, considering that the former Eintracht Frankfurt man isn’t in the best form right now.

Man United tipped to sign Outstanding €80m PSG Playmaker ahead of Manchester City as Ruud Van Nistelrooy backs him to shine – Reports
It seems that Manchester United isn’t giving up on the prospect of signing RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, even though no agreement was struck during the most recent transfer window.
Man United showed a keen interest in the Dutch attacker for a significant portion of the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, who stated that the club became even more interested in Simons following his Dutch team’s performance at Euro 2024.
In the end, a deal remained far off, even though Simons made a suggestion that he would return to Leipzig on another Paris Saint-Germain loan.
This advice came to pass in July when he agreed to join a new one-year loan with Leipzig.
Even as he returns to Germany, however, United have not given up on their pursuit of the Dutch forward.
Christian Falk, the head of football at the BILD Group, revealed that United may just manage to hijack a potential deal for Simons being formulated by bitter rivals Manchester City.
“United and Liverpool were interested in the player historically, but also Manchester City are in the race and he would be a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s system,” Falk noted. He also revealed why United may be ahead in the race to sign Simons.
“Liverpool have a coach who can speak the same language. There’s a Dutch coach also present at Manchester United. So, these offer huge chances for either club,” he explained, suggesting that Simons would appreciate playing under a coach who speaks the same language.
For United, Simons is a young, versatile player who could significantly bolster their attacking options over the long-term future.
It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag is a fan of the Dutch rising star, praising Simons for his performance against England in the Euro 2024 semifinals.
“I enjoyed Xavi Simons in that game. The drive he has, the passion with which he conquers balls and recognises situations are top,” Ten Hag stated. “His enormous drive as well. That is almost un-Dutch. I think you can see that he was trained abroad. He almost has a southern European doggedness in his game.”
Of course, Simons’ impressive performances extend beyond his appearances for the Netherlands. He was a key player for Leipzig last season, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga games last season.
Although Simons’ market value is €80 million, according to Transfermarkt, United may just manage to afford him comfortably should they do adequate financial planning before bidding on the player once his loan deal expires

Man United handed fresh Zinedine Zidane boost as new transfer claim emerges after Sir Jim Ratcliffe meeting -Report
Man United handed fresh Zinedine Zidane boost as new transfer claim emerges after Sir Jim Ratcliffe meeting -Report
Manchester United is considering a number of options to replace Erik ten Hag, whose career at Old Trafford is in jeopardy.
One of those names is Zinedine Zidane. Zinedine Zidane’s potential appointment to Manchester United has increased due to rumors that the Frenchman will take Erik ten Hag’s place.
With just two victories in their first seven games of the new season, the Red Devils have had an awful start to the season.
Ten Hag is said to have no more than a game or two to turn things around and start putting out results because they are currently five points above the relegation zone in the table and ranked 14th.
Should the axe swing, the likes of Zidane, Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate could be parachuted in to replace the Dutchman. United have a long-standing interest in Zidane, who has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, and while the 52-year-old has rebuffed their advances in the past, he recently declared an interest in returning to the dugout.
United aren’t the only ones after Zidane’s signature. The French FA are reportedly eyeing the former Real Madrid midfielder up as a potential replacement for France manager Didier Deschamps. However, according to French outlet RMC, Deschamps isn’t planning to step down any time soon.
It’s also understood that the 55-year-old, who has won the World Cup as both a player and a manager, is desperate to prevent Zidane from succeeding him amid fears his former team-mate will sweep away his legacy.
As such, United may have a free shot at Zizou should they part ways with Ten Hag in the coming weeks.
It comes following news that United’s top brass, including owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, discussed the club’s ongoing on-field problems, as well as potential managerial appointments, during a seven-hour crisis meeting in London on Tuesday.
No final decision was made on whether to stick or twist with Ten Hag, but former Chelsea boss Tuchel was reportedly a major talking point during the meeting.
In the summer, Ratcliffe held talks with Tuchel over a possible move to Old Trafford, but no agreement was reached. The German has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich by mutual consent at the end of last season.
It’s understood Tuchel is keen to work in England again, though sources close to the coach claim he hasn’t been contacted by United recently. He’s also in contention for the England national team job, with the FA currently searching for Southgate’s long-term replacement.
Zidane has had something of an unorthodox managerial career. He started out as head coach of Real Madrid B in 2014 before being appointed manager of the senior team in 2016. He went on to win three Champions Leagues on the trot, as well as the La Liga title in 2017, before resigning out of the blue in 2018.
Ten months later, he returned to the Bernabeu and led the club to another La Liga title in 2020. But after ending the 2020/21 season without winning a major trophy, he resigned for the second time.
